Film nights are back at the library on Thursdays. Every week, we’ll be showing stellar, award-winning international films from recent years. Coffee, tea, and dessert will be served.
Sept 19th – “The Taste of the Thing”- Set in France in 1889, this delicious love story follows the life of Dodin Bouffant as a chef living with his personal cook and lover, Eugénie. They share a long history of gastronomy and love, but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.
Sept 26th – “Perfect Days” -Hirayama feels content with his life as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo, Japan. Outside of his structured routine, he leads a tranquil life, cherishing music on cassette tapes, reading books, and taking photos. Through unexpected encounters, he reflects on himself and his place in the world.
Oct 3rd – ” Amerikatsi” – In 1948, Charlie returns to Armenia after escaping to the US as a young boy during the Armenian genocide. He finds his home country overtaken by the Soviets and is unjustly arrested. From his prison cell, he secretly watches an Armenian prison guard’s family, and finally learns about the true spirit of his homeland and its people.
