Sandwich Public Library Museum Pass Program
Winter on Cape Cod can be both physically and emotionally challenging, as the cold, stormy weather limits outdoor activity. With shops and restaurants closed or operating on reduced hours, and school vacations leaving little social interaction, it often leads to a serious case of cabin fever!
A terrific way to beat the winter blues is by visiting your local library to check out their Museum Pass Program, which offers discount passes to area museums. Most of the local libraries on Cape Cod provide their patrons with either free or discounted passes to area museums both on and off Cape, including Plymouth, New Bedford, and Boston.
Museum Pass Program Explained
The Sandwich Public Library has a museum pass program which provides cardholders with access to over 20 local and regional museums, offering free or discounted admissions, thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Sandwich Public Library, the Sandwich Women’s Club, the Sandwich Garden Club, and the Sandwich Artisans.
“The library museum pass program provides something for everyone, including art exhibits, zoos, history and garden exhibits,” explains Marian Gurney, Treasurer of the Friends of the Sandwich Public Library. “Our mission is to raise money to support the library’s programming and services. Supporting the museum pass program not only enriches the library patron community but also highlights the varied educational and entertaining venues located here on Cape Cod and beyond.”
Museums offered through this library pass program include the Museum of Fine Arts, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Boston Children’s Museum, the Roger Williams Park Zoo, the New England Aquarium, Mystic Seaport, and the Sandwich Glass Museum, just to name a few. Each pass is day specific. Reservations may be made through the library website, by phone at 508-888-0625, or in person. Passes may be picked up at the library the day before or the day of the visit–just remember to bring the library card used to reserve the pass. Some passes are collected at the museum, while others need to be returned to the Sandwich Public Library.
Every library has its own selection of passes to different museums and protocols for reserving and picking up your passes.
