If you are spending the holidays on Cape Cod, you are sure to find plenty of New Year’s Eve events whether you are looking for family-friendly events or a night on the town to celebrate the turn of the year.
2023 New Year’s Eve Events:
First Night – Chatham First Night Chatham is the largest family-friendly and alcohol free celebration on Cape Cod to celebrate New Year’s Eve. This town-wide celebration of the arts offers over 70 performances and events, something for everyone!
December 31st, 2023 will be First Night Chatham’s 33rd New Year’s Eve celebration. In Chatham New Year’s Eve events will start with the traditional Town Photo at the Chatham Lighthouse at noon and end with the Noise Parade and Veterans Field Fireworks finishing at 10 PM.
First Light Provincetown– Provincetown is known for its smashing parties, and plans New Year’s Eve 2023 will uphold this reputation! This Cape Cod New Year’s celebration spanning multiple days, begins on December 28 and running until New Year’s Day.
The many New Year’s Eve events, scheduled throughout the town, include live music, a craft fair, multiple performances, dance parties and an incredible fireworks display on New Year’s Eve. Check the P’Town.org website for a full listing of New Year’s Eve events.
Cotuit Center for the Arts– Ring in the new year with laughter at Cotuit Center for the Arts on New Year’s Eve. A night of stand-up comedy with Boston comedians Paul Nardizzi and Joni Grassey. There will be a 5pm show hosted by local favorite Jim Ruberti.
The Loft – Annual New Years Bash The Loft in Yarmouth is again hosting their Annual New Year’s Bash. Dinner starting and 4:30 and entertainment with The Real Deal starting at 9:30 PM. The celebration begins with a scrumptious 4 course meal and ending with a midnight toast. The party includes hats and noise-blowers and lasts until 2 am to ring in the New Year!
NYE on Martha’s Vineyard:
Donaroma’s Nusery Light Show
Your last chance to enjoy the Nursery Light Show before the ringing of the New Year in Edgartown! Just park your car, tune into 87.9 FM and enjoy our complimentary festive light show. The lights will be on display Dec. 8 through January 1, 2023 from 5 to 9 p.m..
Gatchell Holiday Lights
Your last chance to enjoy the Holiday Lights! The Gatchell Family has been putting on a fabulous display in Oak Bluffs for the last 45 years. Just park your car, and enjoy the lights from the comfort and warmth of your vehicle! The lights run from 5-8pm. They are also collecting non perishable items or monetary donations for the Island Food Pantry.
NYE on Nantucket:
New Years Eve Gala– Celebrate the end of 2023 and the start of 2024 at the Nantucket Hotel. Enjoy some great food and multiple toasts throughout the evening, while enjoying the music by DJ Billy Voss and Joe.
The hotel offers a fancy cocktail reception, an elegant dinner, live entertainment, a dance party, with a late-night bites buffet. The evening ends the customary toast and a great view of the anchor drop. Part of the ticket sales from this New Year’s Eve event will benefit Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals.
Anchor Drop– Join us outside The Nantucket Hotel for our complimentary New Year’s Eve “Anchor Drop.” We’ll be counting down to 2023 by dropping an anchor off the top of the Hotel. Offered at 5:00 p.m. (for families) and Midnight (for all others). Complimentary Hot Chocolate will be served.
Plymouth New Years Eve:
GPub – The family-friendly New Years Eve Party begins in the Arcade from 5-7pm. They will be giving out free $5 arcade game cards and prizes during the party.
The traditional NYE dinner and a show with Ken Monteiro from 7-9pm, will be followed with a dance party in the Pub with music by Wut It Iz starting at 9pm. $10 cover after 9pm.
Back to the 80’s at Uva’s-
Ready let’s party like it’s 1989 to ring in 2024?!?! Dust off your leg warmers, tease your hair, and put on your best neon outfit for a night filled with nostalgia and fun.
The SMOKING JACKETS will be serving up all the greatest hits from the 80s, so bring your dancing shoes! Tickets include lots of tasty hors d’ourves, desserts and a champagne toast.
Comedy Night at the Spire– Laugh your way into 2023 with two of Boston’s favorite comedians, Mark Riley and Will Noonan.
Doors open at 6pm for dinner. The hilarious 2 hour comedy show begins at 8:00 p.m..
New Years Day Events:
Studies. FOYCOA’s 13th Annual Polar Plunge- Join the annual Polar Plunge at noon on Smugglers(BAss River) Beach in South Yarmouth to start off 2024!Cocoa and cookies provided for all those brave enough to take a dip in Nantucket Sound!
Monument Beach Polar Plunge- This annual dip by the members of Monument Beach Polar Club and its supporters benefit the Bourne Food Pantry. Anyone can join for the $25 registration fee but all participants must wear foot protection. After the dip all the brave plungers will be offered #ACuppaChowda!
Provincetown Polar Bear Plunge is arguably Cape Cod’s most colorfully flamboyant dip into Provincetown Harbor at high noon. This annual event raises money for the Center for Coastal Studies.
Freeze the Day Polar Plunge – the Mashpee Rec Department is hosting their second annual polar plunge to raise funds for the Mashpee Kiwanis Club. On New Year’s Day the brave plungers will meet at 10 am at the Naukabout Brewery for a refreshing plunge in Mashpee-Wakeby Pond! Hot Cocoa will be provided.
First Day Hikes – The Barnstable Land Trust is again offering a whole host of First Day Hikes at various location around the Cape. These walks, talk and hikes are a perfect way to start the New Year off on the right foot, but starting healthy habits and learning more about our unique environment.
There are several sunrise walks starting at 6:45am, but plenty of other choices throughout the day to accommodate the late risers. All of the 15 events are free and open to the public but pre-registration is required for some. Check out the First Day Hikes webpage for a complete listing and to pre-register.
So however you choose to close out 2023 or ring in 2024, enjoy the New Year’s Eve events on Cape Cod safely.
