July is an exciting time on Cape Cod. The month kicks off with a plethora of July 4th events on Cape Cod, but the fun doesn’t stop there! With July being a big month for vacationers, there are fun activities all month long for everyone to enjoy.
Celebrating July 4th on Cape Cod is a festive and memorable experience, with a variety of activities, events, and beautiful coastal settings.
A Guide to July 4th Events on Cape Cod:
Fireworks on Cape Cod
Of course, no Fourth of July celebration would be complete without fireworks on Cape Cod. Several towns on the Cape have firework displays, (on July 4th @ dusk unless otherwise indicated).
- Mashpee – Mashpee High School on June 28th @ 8:45pm – after the annual community picnic @ 5pm. (shuttle available from Quashnet school)
- Orleans – Rock Harbor (July 2nd @ dusk)
- Sandwich – Wing School (June 28th at 9pm after Moonlighters performance @ 7pm))
- Chatham – Veterans Field (July 2nd @ dusk)
- Falmouth – Falmouth Heights Beach (July 4th @ dusk)
- Provincetown – Provincetown Harbor (July 4th @ dusk)
- Plymouth – Plymouth Harbor (July 4th @ dusk)
Most of the firework displays begin after dusk between 9:00pm and 9:30pm.
Road Races for Independence Day
Participating in a road race on Cape Cod around the July 4th holiday is a great way to combine fitness with the festive atmosphere. Here are some popular races across the Cape:
Sandwich– Spirit of Sandwich 5k – This road race starts at the Henry T.Wing School at 8am. Registration fee of $20 will be taken on the day of the race starting at 6:45am.
Hyannis Port – The traditional fun run begins at the Hyannis Port Post Office at 9 a.m. followed by the parade at 11 a.m.
Plymouth – 4th of July 5K has a new course this year, beginning at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park on Water Street, at 7:30am.
Fourth of July Parades on Cape Cod
Several Cape Cod towns kick off their Fourth of July Celebrations with Independence Day parades on Cap[e Cod featuring floats, bands, and much more. Towns that have a parade on July 4th include:
- Barnstable (9 am) – Along Main Street
- Centerville(10:00 am) – Centerville Elementary (Flag Raising and songs @ 9am)
- Chatham (9:30 am) – Along Main Street (“Seasons of Chatham”)
- Cotuit (11 am) – Along Main Street
- Hyannis Port (11 am) Staring at the Post Office
- Hyannis (3pm) – Â Hyannis Harbor Boat Parade
- Orleans (10 am) – starting at Eldregde Parkway
- Sandwich (10:30 am) –the parade kicks off at the Wing School
- Wellfleet (9:30 am) – Main Street -begins with classic cars
- Provincetown ( 11 am) starts at the Harbor Hotel
Cape Cod Baseball – July 4th, 2025
The Cape Cod Baseball League is celebrating the Fourth with America’s favorite pastime! The League will hold free games across the Cape on the 4th:Harwich @ Brewster at 5:00 p.m.,  Cotuit @ Falmouth 5:00 p.m., Hyannis @Yarmouth-Dennis at 5 p.m., Bourne@ Wareham at 6 p.m., Chatham@ Orleans 6:30 p.m.
Festive Music on the 4th
Hyannis –Â Live music and performances on Main Street and the Bandstand on the Village Green, starting at 4pm on July 4th, featuring a slate of local talent, including the Cape Cod Ukulele Club and a reenactment from the Yarmouth Minutemen.
