June means that the summer season in Cape Cod is well underway. Warmer weather and increased crowds allow for the summer events to run in full swing. Here are some of the most popular June events on Cape Cod and in nearby towns.
June Events on Cape Cod:
Antique Auto Show– June 8th 10 am to 12 pm
Celebrating its 52nd annual show, the Antique Auto Show at the Heritage Museums and Gardens is a fun, family-friendly event. With antique and custom cars on display, there is sure to be something to spark every car lover’s interest.
Enjoy lunch from Lilly’s Café, vote for your favorite car, build a LEGO® vehicle in the family activity area or watch the parade of show cars at 2 pm.
Tickets can be purchased at the Heritage Museum’s website and are $22 for adults and $12 for those 17 and younger. Members admission is free.
Provincetown Film Festival – June 12th – June 16th
The Provincetown Film Festival celebrates its 26th year, with over 80 films, panel discussions, and dedicated events. While you won’t find the next Marvel hit at the festival, you can be sure to find a unique sampling of independent films.
This years festival features 2 Special Conversations. The first conversation on the 13th will be with award-winning actor, playwright, director, and producer, Colman Domingo, in conversation with Academy Award nominated producer and filmmaker, Christine Vachon. The second Conversation on the 15th is between writer/director Andrew Haigh and filmmaker/icon John Waters.
The festival lasts five days. You have the option of either purchasing an all-access pass or tickets to individual events on the festival’s website.
Nantucket Book Festival – June 13th – June 16th
Celebrating its 12th anniversary, the Nantucket Book Festival is one of the premier book festivals in the State of Massachusetts. The festival offers you the opportunity to meet and engage with some of your favorite authors.
Some of the more exciting attendees this year includes Jim Patrick, Paul Harding, Gabriella Burnham and Adrienne Brodeur. The Young Writer Award Presentation and Conversation on Saturday will be between Kwame Alexander & Safiya Sinclair, two critically acclaimed writers and poets.
Hyannis Father’s Day Car Show – June 16th 8:30 am to 2 pm
The Hyannis Father’s Day Car Show is located on Main Street in Hyannis and features over 350 cars. It has grown to become not only the largest car show in New England but also the largest non-sporting event on the Cape held on a single day.
Hyannis Main St. businesses and restaurants will be open for shopping and dining and various food trucks will be available throughout the show. This is a great free event to take your father!
Taylor-Bray Farm Sheep Fest – June 15th  9am – 4pm
Ever wondered about all the work that goes into producing wool products? Here is your chance to see it first-hand!
You can watch sheep shearing and herding, along with wool dying, spinning, and weaving. It is also a wonderful opportunity to see the new lambs for the first time.
You can help support the farm at the festival by donating the requested $5 for parking or stocking up on some beach plum jelly. Come enjoy the hayrides, refreshments, large silent auction and open house tours. No dogs on the day of the festival please.
Provincetown Portuguese Festival & Blessing of the Fleet – June 28th – June 30th
In 1998 the Governor of Massachusetts proclaimed June as Portuguese heritage month. While the blessing of the fleet was a reoccurring event long before then, it recognizes the importance and popularity of the festival and tradition.
The blessing recognizes the Portuguese fisherman who risks their lives to fish in order to feed their community and family. The festival is a three-day celebration of Portuguese food, music, and dancing.
