As December quickly approaches thoughts of baking fresh Christmas cookies, decorating gingerbread houses and wrapping presents start to fill everyone’s minds. There are plenty of ways to bring Holiday cheer within the walls of your home – but many ways to celebrate this joyful season alongside the community with the many Plymouth holiday events.

In Plymouth, MA, the Christmas season kicks off in early December and includes many events suited for both children and adults.

1. Vienna Boys Choir- Christmas in Vienna

The illustrious group of child musicians has been delighting music lovers across the globe for six centuries with their purity of tone, distinctive charm and popular repertoire. Christmas in Vienna showcases these gifted musicians with voices of unforgettable beauty in an extraordinary program featuring Austrian folk songs, classical masterpieces, popular songs and, of course, holiday favorites.

2. Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lightingchristm

  • Time: 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Location: Plymouth Town Hall, 26 Court St, Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost:Free                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Join together as a community for the annual tree-lighting outside the Plymouth Town Hall!
    The event will feature music, hay rides, face painting, holiday crafts, a special appearance by Santa, and of course, the community favorite, Winter Lights 5K!

3. 12th Annual Winter Lights 5k

  • Date: 12/1
  • Time: 6:15 pm – 6:30 pm
  • Location: Main St., Downtown Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: $40 on site/$35 online

Don’t miss out on the community kick-off of the Christmas in Historic Plymouth Celebration! Not only does this event feature a parade and marching band, when Santa Claus lights the tree the 11th annual Winter Lights 5k begins at the intersection of Court St. and Howland St., taking you on a magical run through downtown and alongside the waterfront. Course ends at Russell St. in front of Town Hall.  Whether you’re a walker, runner, or are just there to see Santa, this event is the complete package to start off your Holiday Season with cheer!

4. Edaville Festival of Lights

  • Date: 12/1 – 12/31 (closed Christmas)
  • Time: 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm (must choose a time slot)
  • Location: Edaville Family Theme Park, 5 Pine St, Carver MA.
  • Cost: Varies

Experience one of New England’s Oldest Christmas Traditions! Steam trains, Christmas lights, food, local businesses and crafters, Santa, and vintage amusement rides. Choose from Santa’s Express or North Pole Limited

 

5. Plymouth Holiday Market

  • Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Location: Plymouth Memorial Hall, 83 Court St, Plymouth, MA
  • Cost: $5 admission/Children Under 12 Free

Highlighting more than 100 local handmade vendors this Holiday Market has a wide variety of handmade items ranging from jewelry, home goods, and specialty desserts. Not only will you be guaranteed to find gifts for those on your list, but you will be supporting local businesses in the community!

6. Toys For Tots

  • Date: 12/6
  • Time:  5:00 – 7 pm
  • Location: Alden Park, 160 Colony Place,Plymouth, MA
  • Cost: new unwrapped toy

Join the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and their local business sponsors in their annual Toys for Tots Campaign. An evening of live entertainment and merry making in Alden Park for a good cause.

Bring a new unwrapped toy for a child in need this holiday season. Start you season right with the gift of giving!

7.”The Phil” Hometown Holiday

  • Date: 12/9 – 12/10
  • Time: 3 pm both days; 7 pm Saturday
  • Location:   Plymouth Memorial Hall, 83 Court St, Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: $30- $100

This year is  Mr. Scrooge’s 180th! Anniversary so join the “Phil” and party like the Dickens.  This years long awaited performanceThe Ghost of Christmas Present, features a musical vignette from A Christmas Carol with actor Neil McGarry playing all the parts. Another fabulous performer, tenor Matthew Anderson, keeps the holiday spirit going with God Bless Us, Everyone from the Disney version of the Dickens classic. The annual holiday performance at  Plymouth Memorial Hall is a seasonal favorite, so bring your family and friends along to enjoy.

8. Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus

  • Date: 12/9
  • Time:  8:00 – 11:30 am
  • Location: Old Colony YMCA, 200 Hedges Pond Rd, Plymouth, MA
  • Cost: starts at $8 members/$12 non-members – Pre-registration is required via Eventbrite

Join the Old Colony Y and Redbrook to dine on a breakfast buffet, take home festive crafts, and try your luck in our roll-up raffle! Bring along your camera to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

9. A Christmas Carol At the Hedge House

  • Date: 12/7 – 12/10
  • Time:   2pm-8pm, reservation required
  • Location: Hedge House, 126 Water St, Plymouth MA.
  • Cost: $35

Experience the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge’s redemption during immersive performances in the 1809 Hedge House. A talented cast brings to life the 1843 novella by Charles Dickens in a one-of-a-kind production that transforms each room into a different scene. The audience follows Scrooge through the house to witness his encounters with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

10. An Anericana Christmas

  • Location: Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North St, Plymouth MA.

s back by popular demand after a successful debut production in 2022. This humorous take on A Christmas Carol being produced by a formerly married couple is sure to delight all audiences. With 9 different performances times throughout the week, you are sure to find one that fits your schedule.

11. A Christmas Carol

  • Time: 3:00 pm
  • Location: Spire Theatre, 25 ½ Court St. Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost:  varies

Actor Neil McGarry returns home to Plymouth for this solo performance of Dicken’s classic on December 17th at 3pm in Plymouth’s Spire Theater. Neil has wooed audience all over the US and Europe. Surely this Plymouth holiday event will become a beloved tradition in your family as well.

12. Who’s Holiday

  • Location: Memorial Hall, 83 Court St, Plymouth MA
  • Cost: $25 – $35

A fabulous one-night show at Theater at Plymouth’s Memorial Hall on December 17th.  This wildly funny adults-only comedy tells the story of Cindy Lou Who and the Christmas Eve when she met the Grinch.  Celebrate the holidays with Cindy Lou Who now all grown up.
This hilarious Plymouth holiday event is hosted by Improper Bostonian.
