As December quickly approaches thoughts of baking fresh Christmas cookies, decorating gingerbread houses and wrapping presents start to fill everyone’s minds. There are plenty of ways to bring Holiday cheer within the walls of your home – but many ways to celebrate this joyful season alongside the community with the many Plymouth holiday events.

In Plymouth, MA, the Christmas season kicks off in early December and includes many events suited for both children and adults.

1. Plymouth Hometown Stroll

  • Date: 12/3 – 12/5
  • Time: All weekend long
  • Location:   Downtown Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: Free and open to the public

Plymouth kicks of the season in style with a weekend packed with festive  activities for the whole family. Begins Friday with a holiday parade at 5pm followed by the Tree Lighting and Winter Lights 10K. Santa arrives by boat in Plymouth Harbor at noon on Saturday. Whether you check out the Festival of the Trees or join in the Snowflake Scavenger Hunt, the town will be filled with carolers, holiday give-aways and festive events.

2. Vienna Boys Choir- Christmas in Vienna

The illustrious group of child musicians has been delighting music lovers across the globe for six centuries with their purity of tone, distinctive charm and popular repertoire. Christmas in Vienna showcases these gifted musicians with voices of unforgettable beauty in an extraordinary program featuring Austrian folk songs, classical masterpieces, popular songs and, of course, holiday favorites.

3. Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lightingchristm

4. 11th Annual Winter Lights 5k

  • Date: 12/2
  • Time: 6:15 pm – 6:30 pm
  • Location: Main St., Downtown Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: $35 on site/$30 online

Don’t miss out on the community kick-off of the Christmas in Historic Plymouth Celebration! Not only does this event feature a parade and marching band, when Santa Claus lights the tree the 11th annual Winter Lights 5k begins!

When the tree lights go on, the race begins at the intersection of Court St. and Howland St., taking you on a magical run through downtown and alongside the waterfront. Course ends at Russell St. in front of Town Hall.

Whether you’re a walker, runner, or are just there to see Santa, this event is the complete package to start off your Holiday Season with cheer!

5. Santa on the Farm

  • Time: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm (must choose a time slot)
  • Location: Hidden Acres Homestead, Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: $25 / family

Join Santa and all the fuzzy animals on the farm while sipping some hot cocoa and browsing for unique holiday gifts! In addition to admission, your ticket purchase includes a digital download of your professional photo with Santa and a free gift per child.

6. Plymouth Holiday Market

  • Cost: $5 admission/Children Under 12 Free

Highlighting 85 local handmade vendors this Holiday Market has a wide variety of handmade items ranging from jewelry, home goods, and specialty desserts. Not only will you be guaranteed to find gifts for those on your list, but you will be supporting local businesses in the community!

7. Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus

  • Date: 12/10
  • Time:  8:00 – 11:30 am
  • Location: Old Colony YMCA, 200 Hedges Pond Rd, Plymouth, MA
  • Cost: starts at $12 members/$17 non-members – Pre-registration is required via Eventbrite

Join the Old Colony Y and Redbrook to dine on a breakfast buffet, take home festive crafts, and try your luck in our roll-up raffle! Bring along your camera to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

8. Pilgrim Hall Indigenous Artisan Festival

  • Date: 12/4
  • Time:   11:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Location: Pilgrim Hall, Plymouth MA.
  • Cost: Free

A beloved Plymouth holiday event, at Memorial Hall. This year,  celebrating milestones with music: Handel’s Messiah, Clement C. Moore’s A Visit from St. Nicholas, and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. A Mad Russian’s Christmas, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s take on the classic holiday ballet, and a trip to Whoville for a tune about the Green Meanie himself—Mr. Grinch! They’ve pulled out all the stops for this holiday pops, so join in this festive, fun, and not-so-silent night!

10. Mayflower Hometown Holiday Marketplacechrist

  • Location: Mayflower Brewing Company, Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: Free

What’s better than doing some Christmas shopping while enjoying a delightful craft beer? Not much! Mayflower Brewing will be your one-stop-shop for supporting locals as you browse the selection of local vendors’ handmade gifts while sipping a cold brew.

11. A Holiday Show with Storm Large

  • Date: 12/16
  • Time: 8:00 pm
  • Location: Spire Theatre, 25 ½ Court St. Plymouth, MA.
  • Cost: $40-$45

Storm Large was shot into fame after being eliminated in the last round of the CBS hit show, Rock Star: Supernova. Despite being eliminated, Storm has a devout fan base that has followed her singing career around the country. She will be in Plymouth with her new band, The Balls, performing many holiday classics.

12. A Cosmic Christmas

  • Date: 12/21
  • Time: 7pm
  • Location: Blake Planetarium at Plymouth Community Intermediate School
  • Cost: $7 tickets sold online only

Visit the planetarium to learn about the early winter sky and enjoy an amazing Christmas-themed light show. Cosmic Christmas is a terrific Plymouth holiday event for all ages.

These programs are directly suited for kids to invite them into the world of science and wonder while tying it all together with a Christmas bow.
