Armstrong-Kelley Park is Cape Cod’s oldest and largest privately owned park that is open to the public free of charge.

What Are Some Highlights of the Armstrong-Kelley Park?

The park boasts a wide array of sites to see while visiting. The park is currently under renovation, so the list is subject to change: however, some notable areas within the park include:

  • a Franklinia tree
  • 30 unique and rare trees, including Stewartia, Dawn Redwoods, and magnolias
  • a quaint Garden of Verses boardwalk
  • Liam’s train and view
  • John Folk fish pond and water garden
  • 7 hillside trails for a hike or walk
  • a holly dell
  • a certified wetland

There are several picnic tables and benches to allow you to enjoy the park at your own leisure or enjoy a family picnic.

However, Armstrong-Kelley Park is beautiful year-round and can be enjoyed in any season.

Why is Armstrong-Kelley Park Under Renovation?

In the spring of 2020, the Cape Cod Horticultural Society, which had cared for the park since 1930, integrated with the Trustees.

The Trustees have embarked on a $2.25 million campaign to help improve parking, property stewardship, and staffing. The upgrades will help renew the park and ensure that it can be enjoyed by generations to come.

The bulk of the renovations is set to begin in the Spring of 2022.

Can I Bring My Dog to Armstrong-Kelley Park?

dog friendly parkDogs are allowed to come with you on your visit to Armstrong-Kelley Park. However, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in an effort to preserve the natural beauty of the park.

In addition, you should be mindful of where you allow your dog to walk. There are several unique plant and tree species located within the park that can be harmed by animal and human interference.
