The Cape Cod Children’s Museum in Mashpee, Massachusetts, is a wonderful destination for families with young children. The museum offers over 20 interactive exhibits that cater to a range of interests, including a pirate ship, grocery store, kitchen, and more. It’s designed as a large play area where children can engage in imaginative play while also learning through hands-on activities.
When to Visit the Cape Cod Children’s Museum
The museum is open year-round, but the hours vary depending on the season:
- Summer Hours (July 1st – August 31st):
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Closed on Sunday
- Winter Hours (September 1st – June 30th):
- Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Admission is $12 per person during the winter and $15 per person during the summer. Children under one year of age can enter for free. The museum also hosts special programs and events throughout the year, especially during school vacations
Located on Great Neck Road in Mashpee, the Cape Cod Children’s Museum has both indoor and outdoor activities. New Activities and Demonstrations
The museum is one large room of interactive, hands-on fun, and the play zone is perfect for curious minds. When it’s busy the room will reverberate with the sounds of delighted kids enjoying the twenty plus exhibits. From a pirate ship and submarine to a portable planetarium, there’s a ton to explore and discover!
There is always something new at the Cape Cod Children’s Museum. They have recently added a Karate Demonstration and an Olympic Obstacle Course. Join them for the popular Puppet Show with Abuela Sheila coming back again on August 22nd and September 5th or catch the weekly Playtime with Ms Lori on Fridays at 11am.
The nonprofit museum serves over 50,000 visitors annually, and aims to provide, “Hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and community” in the families and children who visit. Best suited for kids under ten years old, the museum is perfect for a day that’s rainy or when it’s just too hot to be outside. You’ll want to arrive early, as it can be a popular destination, especially in inclement weather

Can I Eat at the Museum?
Food and drink are not allowed in the museum, however, we do have picnic space on the front lawn and a few tables on the patio. Although make sure you have had your hand stamped for re-entry into the museum after your picnic break.
