Located on Great Neck Road in Mashpee, the Cape Cod Children’s Museum has just opened with their summer hours! The curiosity sparking play experience will be open Tuesday through Friday from nine to three, and Saturdays from ten to three throughout the summer. Masks are required at least through the end of June to protect those too young to be vaccinated. The admission is $10 per person, and $8 for seniors. In an effort to make playing and learning at the museum affordable for all families there are discounts available for a variety of circumstances, and museum scholarships offered with the support of local businesses.
The nonprofit museum serves over 50,000 visitors annually, and aims to provide, “Hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and community” in the families and children who visit. Best suited for kids under ten years old, the museum is perfect for a day that’s rainy or when it’s just too hot to be outside. You’ll want to arrive early, as it can be a popular destination, especially in inclement weather!
The museum is one large room of interactive, hands-on fun, and the play zone is perfect for curious minds. When it’s busy the room will reverberate with the sounds of delighted kids enjoying the twenty plus exhibits. From a pirate ship and submarine to a portable planetarium, there’s a ton to explore and discover!
Kids will also have a great time making new friends at the museum, playing with others who are visiting the museum. An excursion to the Children’s Museum is a favorite with young kids. It can also be a great spot for grandparents to take their grandkids, giving parents vacation time to themselves on the Cape!
While visiting, be sure to enjoy the outdoor spaces and picnic tables. For a memorable birthday party, consider renting out the Cape Cod Children’s Museum for a few hours. All the attendees will have a great time exploring the museum and celebrating a special day. If you’re looking to get involved the museum has lots of volunteer opportunities to create fun exhibits for kids, or to present a fun program to enthusiastic visitors.
